Special Notice to SAWM Members and Boaters:
Preparation for Construction has begun on the CTH-HHH (Airport Road Bridge Replacement) project. It has been reported and confirmed that there is currently netting under the bridge. This netting has been placed there to stop any migratory bird nesting. If a nest is discovered the project would be delayed until nesting season is concluded. This is due to Federal migratory bird regulations.
Boaters have reported that the netting was hanging down and created a possible obstruction/entanglement for passing boats. SAWM has been in contact with the Shawano County Highway department. We were advised that the netting is necessary, but they will take actions to reduce the possible obstruction.
We want to remind everyone that officials are taking as many reasonable actions as possible to reduce boaters’ inconvenience while the bridge is being replaced. We ask for everyone’s patience and understanding through this process, ultimately the completion of this project will improve the overall Shawano boating experience.
Note: Construction on the project is scheduled to begin July 11th 2022.
